Has working in the music industry always been your dream?
I originally wanted to be a footballer, but I was introduced to music by a peer who was into Biggie Smalls and my sisters who were into east coast hip-hop such as Puff Daddy, Bad Boy, and alternative rock such as Nirvana and Offspring.
Just how many tattoos do you have? And which one means the most to you?
About 25 or 26 – it’s my way of visually expressing myself. I love old school tattoos. I don’t have a favourite as they all represent what I’m about.
Do you have a health/fitness routine?
I used to go to the gym but now I’m working too much to work out.
What influences or inspires you the most?
Everyday life; things I see and hear – random things.
How do you switch off?
The music industry can be really frustrating so I watch films or go for a drive.
Who would you like to collaborate with in the music industry?
Michael Jackson is my biggest inspiration, but if it had to be someone living then Kanye West.
Where do you go when you’re west?
I like sushi restaurant Ukai [223 Portobello Road, W11].
What don’t you like about west London?
It’s creative but not as daring as other areas of London.
What’s the best thing you can do in London for free?
Walk around and look at the architecture.
What is your most memorable moment?
A producer friend was working with Pharrell Williams and played a track of mine to him. Pharrell loved it and re-mixed it. I never got to hear it, though.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
I’ll be working on new material. My plans are to take over and inspire people.
What’s the worst lie you’ve told?
I once told a girl that a car sitting out on the street was mine (I think it was a Porsche). She believed me.
What’s your life motto?
We all know we’re not perfect, but try to be the best you can and accept that it’s okay not to be okay – we all put too much pressure on ourselves.
