Ushvani Spa in Chelsea

The Blurb:

Tucked away not far from the King’s Road is a little piece of Malaysia known as the Ushvani Spa. Set in an Edwardian period building, the Ushvani Spa features hibiscus, the Malaysian flower, in their décor and treatments.

Each room has a different theme. The Asmara suite (‘asmara’ is the Malay word for ‘love’) is used by couples, friends and relatives. In keeping with Malaysian tradition, the Ushvani Spa treat men and women separately, so a screen is used to divide couples during treatments in this suite. Men have their own treatment area called The Blue Room. The Sentosa Studio is used for Yoga, Pilates and meditation classes.

Using its own range of natural products, Ushvani Spa offers a variety of individual and combination treatments including: facials, four body massages, six body scrubs, four body wraps, a bespoke foot treatment and a scalp massage.

Before treatments, guests can make use of the Ushvani spa facilities which includes hydrotherapeutic spa pool, themed showers and steam rooms. After treatments, guests are invited to relax and unwind in the tearoom.

The Process:

From the moment you enter into the spa you’re made to feel at home. Shoes are replaced with slippers and you’re welcomed with a warm Ginger & Nutmeg towel to rid your hands of any unpleasant germs.

The first treatment I had was a body scrub using their Papaya & Cane Sugar body scrub, followed by their Balinese massage using their Coconut & Hibiscus Oil.

The body scrub left my skin feeling very moisturised and to rinse off I used their rain shower which totally revitalised me.

The Balinese massage helps to balance the body. It’s also a great way to release any tension, as well as helping to boost circulation. I asked for a hard massage and that’s exactly what I got. However you can opt to have a more gentle massage. I discovered that I’m really knotted, so this treatment was especially helpful.

The Result:

I loved the whole experience at the Ushvani Spa. My treatment was carried out on a heated bed, which made it even more enjoyable. The staff was friendly and the environment was so calming and peaceful, that I totally forgot about the craziness of the outside world. So if you want to have some South-east Asian treatments in central London, then I suggest you head to the Ushvani Spa.

Balinese massage £180 for 90 minutes; £240 for 120 minutes. Body scrub £60 for 30 minutes.
