MYZ beauty boutique
'Owner Maryam pours you a drink while her cuddly pooch greets you like an old friend'

14-day manicure at MYZ Beauty Boutique and Spa

The blurb:

MYZ Beauty Boutique and Spa in Notting Hill is the latest addition to West London’s luxury beauty and wellbeing scene. Founded by Maryam Zandi, a former fashion buyer, the neighbourhood spa has seen Sienna Miller, Lindsay Lohan and Rita Ora among others walk through its doors. Treatments range from manis, pedis and facials from beauty experts Yon-Ka, to light therapy, reiki sessions and CACI facial technology.

The process:

Just off Powis Square in Westbourne Grove, MYZ occupies an unassuming spot but that’s probably what pulls in the A-list—the less fanfare, the better. The interior feels like a relaxed front room, with owner Maryam pouring you a drink while her cuddly pooch greets you like an old friend.

Customers at MYZ behave like old pals, chatting date nights and dresses, which is precisely what Maryam values about her boutique business—that no matter how famous (or not), clients get the same personal and down to earth treatment.

I had the 14-day shellac manicure and, on Maryam’s recommendation (as our skin tones were similar), chose Elegance, a nude with lilac undertones and the latest shade to be added to the collection. Beautifully applied by young Abbi, a nail technician with an expert eye, I sat chatting to one of MYZ’s weekly customers who was getting prepped for a night out. Despite the fact I’d never met anyone before, I felt like I was having a pampering night in with friends.

Downstairs there are two treatment rooms for Yon-Ka facials and CACI anti-ageing face treatments. Maryam’s choice of these two brands reflects their status as preferred options for beauty insiders and celebrities in the know. She said that spending time trying different spa and beauty treatments around the world helped her realise exactly what she wanted to promote in her own spa.

MYZ also offers ‘Disney’ mini treatments for little ones—Maryam obviously knows her customers and market. I also enjoyed the snippets of fashion photography and framed Hermes scarves that decorated the stairway and corridors, all flashes of Maryam’s past life in fashion.

The results:

While my mani didn’t last 14 days (might have been all the DIY I was doing), I could easily imagine adopting MYZ as my local beauty parlour—few spas are so relaxed and comfortable at the same time as having another life of discreet celebrity and beauty insider approval. Maryam’s modesty and loyalty to her clients, whoever they are, ensures they re-book when the next mani is up for a refresh.
