Trends to expect for Autumn/Winter 2014

Last week we saw Paris Fashion Week draw to a close, concluding four weeks of new collections in the four fashion capitals of the world. Autumn may be six months off, but that doesn’t stop us from getting excited and inspired by what is to come. So, lets check out some of the trends we can expect to see in AW14.

Wearable Clothing

If what you’re looking for is wearable 9 to 5 fashion or a laid-back luxe look, then Paul Smith, Louis Vuitton and Pucci’s collections will be right up your street.

Dress for the office in oversized slouchy pants and a blazer or a high-waist skirt and chic feminine blouse.

Quilting

If you have narrow hips, a quilted skirt will be great for you this autumn to create curves. Or try a quilted jacket or coat, perfect for keeping you warm and the texture is a fabulous added detail.

Capes and Cloaks

Capes may be a recurring trend these last couple of years but we still love them! Whether you go long or short, felt or knitted, hood or no hood, you can do no wrong. Valentino created a thing of beauty with this butterfly embellished ankle length cloak.

Daks’ roll-neck knitted number is a sophisticated alternative to a winter sweater.

Fairytales and Folk

My favorite AW14 collections are the ones inspired by fairytales and folklores. Alexander McQueen has given us fashion access to Game of Thrones while Dolce & Gabbana’s collection has a mystical forest influence.
